Shawn, you should have said...

...in your comments or in the movie itself to not review it unless you understand it. Unfortunately, you lent yourself to a whole community that includes citizens whose literature comes from google searches and chat rooms. Some, however, know who HP Lovecraft is and why this is funny. I'm one of the latter people. And I don't mean to group internet users into two categories, either, as I'm sure there are many more categories as well. I just want to let you know that this was a great toon, and that I feel your pain when, in response to confused reviews, you say "sigh!" Oh, and I want to eat your brain.

I, too, loved the first one but...

...I thought the point of this particular animation, ie Story Tag, was that you and Gel took turns on portions of this story so that the outcome was only clear when you both finished it. I really thought that that was what this was all about.

Don't get me wrong, I thought this was very humorous and well animated. It just seems that you and Gel abandoned the concept between part 1 and 2 of this series. Or am I really thick headed? Um, don't answer that...

Great flash, though.

Dustball responds:

You are absolutely right about the Story Tag concept but yes, the confusing thing about this movie is that it is not a Story Tag at all. It's not that we abandoned that concept, we just haven't finished any recently, but this movie is somewhat of an anomaly. The Story Tags usually stay fairly simple, and don't have elaborite emerging plots, exciting, detailed characters, etc. But when gel started Story Tag 2 he drew up characters from an existing clay animation of ours simply as a joke. I continued to add existing characters and a sort of functional story started to miraculously develop! In the end, it played out more like a planned movie than an actual Story Tag. We decided it was getting so long and would take forever to finish along that path so we submitted it as "part one". When it got such a good response I decided maybe it would be best to finish it "for real". Many people, including ourselves were curious to see how the story would play out, but it wouldn't be nearly as coherent if it was to be done Story Tag style. Quite some time later, I had a finished product... but what to call it? The best choice, albeit a confusing one, is "Blown Away: Story Tag 2 part 2" Since that's really what it is: the sequel to Story Tag 2. I'm sad to see it's chances of daily feature getting trampled by some 3D eye candy (you evil dog, you). I really put every last minute of my free time into this movie for several months, and I'm very proud of it.

Nice idea...

I for one am a big fan of Dave Thomas and was slightly dissappointed with his absence from the toon you made. I understand that the way you animated this toon is the style you were going for, and I can't really understand why others are putting you down for your lack of animation on the figures. Santa was frickin' hilarious.

BUT...

What I can't stand is your refutes of others' reviews. Grab a sack of maturity and get over yourself. You gotta admit that there is a tonne of stuff better than your stuff, not that you were trying to make something better than the best submission, and that there are people who are just not going to like what you did. Lots of entertainment critics aren't movie makers or dancers but just regular folks who like to be entertained. Not everyone on Newgrounds is an animator, but they do like toons, and they know what they like. Lighten up....

Slickernaut responds:

Yes, they know what they like. That doesn't mean they should use the reviewing process as a discussion board of name calling, and generally useless comments.

And believe me friend, I know a thing or two about taking criticism. I've been making short films for nearly five years.

Cool...

I've only ever submitted one Flash movie (so far and just recently) and I really love the frame by frame stuff. I'm curious about this WACOM tablet...is it expensive and how easy is it to use...let me know.

Thanks!

LudBofton responds:

well first of all check out www.wacom.com :D They're a bit pricey but it's definately worth it. I've only had it for 2 days and already I love it and know how to use it! It's easy and awesome! I suggest one for everyone! they range from 100 - 1,000 dollars...i picked a mid-range one ;D. Payce!

Not as good as the first....

Don't get me wrong...I love the retarded animal babies and have watched the first one at least 20 times and the second at least four times. However, even though there was a touch of your cleverness in this edition of R.A.B. I find that the first is the best.

If you could continue to pattern future episodes after the first R.A.B. I will give up sex. That's right...SEX!!! I will not have any more sex for better episodes (this shouldn't be to hard for me as I am married).

Everyone I have talked to lately I have converted into cult followers of your. Don't make me regret that. I the quality of you series lessens, then my life expectancy will to.

Thank you...
E is for pants

I told you before that I wanted to eat your brain

And I damn well meant it!!! But you keep avoiding me! I praise you and praise you and you just ignore my calls, telegraphs and semen soaked love letters and all I can do is think of a new antidepressant to experiment with. Well Jim, ignore me no longer or...or...ELSE.

Now, you'll notice that the score I gave you makes sense except for the Violence and Interactivity rating...well, those two weren't for you! That's my score for me after I get violently interactive with you.

Look forward to your call

Love Pez

I, too, have eaten a lot of pizza before bed...

And the result would be your animation in a dream of mine. Don't get me wrong. I think what you've done is beautiful. While most animators seem constrained to the physical, you have exceeded the realm and used imagination to a better extent...that which the physical does not always need to apply. I have had dreams where if I would only jot them down the moment I woke up then I would have a novel that Clive Barker would have to say upon reading "Whoa, that dude is one f'ed up dude!"

You know what? I think I'm going to start keeping a pad and pen beside my bed.

Anyway, it was grand. Smooth. Clever. And above all, original. And for that, I wish I could give you more than 10. For now, please accept my heart felt thanks for allowing us to see this animation. It is definitely memorable.

I thought of this the first time I saw the Matrix

You put my thoughts to screen. Hilarious!!! Who the hell would take a pill, regardless of color, from a person they just met? Well, if it was amitriptyline I might...heh heh.

Beautifully smooth mouth movements and lip syncing. The blur when Neo shakes his head is perfect. Kind of reminisent of an acid vapor trail with a trace of paranoia. And nice touch with the stubbly chin on Trinity.

My only beef is that it should be longer...Just kidding. Don't freak. I know it bugs you. Maybe take it as people want to see more of your work. I think the audio could be tweaked for Morpheous' voice. It could be more clear.

Other than that, your animation was the only one in the past 6 months that prompted me to write a review. Thanks for the toon.

You need help...

And I'm just the person to give it to you. It's XXX not X. And what the hell is the great big firey thingy.

Do Bartok next...No, do the Care Bears. Yeah, that'll do!!!

Strange....

You currently seem to have a lower score that the second place individual. I wonder...clock stacking I'm inclined to think.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than ripping a candy from the throat of a Disney character.
